Not doing these hallowed activities on your hen or stag weekend is like having fish without chips, Ant without Dec, tandoori tikka masalla without lager. It just shouldn’t be allowed to happen.
So we’re taking a stand.
We’re upholding the traditions of hen and stag parties everywhere.
Want a stag night where you practice basket-weaving? Sorry, mate, that’s not our thing.
Want a hen night that involves everyone joining in a garden makeover? Take your fancy decking and your pergola and leave our sight (and site) lady; that’s not our idea of fun.
We want to party and we’re not afraid to admit it…
We’re about hen and stag nights that will set the pulse racing, the heart pounding and the sides splitting. So bring on the über-stag or hen weekend: four in one of the finest weekend activities known to man, woman or undecided. And we’ll start with…
1. Reverse Steering
Learn to drive like your mum…
Have you ever driven an unfamiliar car and found the controls just aren’t where you expected them to be? You flick the indicators to turn a corner and the wiper blades switch on instead? You attempt to set the trip computer and find the stereo’s suddenly blasting out Coldplay for no apparent reason? Maybe you’ve attempted to adjust your seat with that lever-thingy down by your side and the boot’s popped open? Reverse steering is a bit like that – only taken to insane, hysteria inducing lengths.
We take a 4x4. We reverse the steering. Then when you turn left you drive the 4x4 right, and when you turn right it goes left. Sounds a doddle, eh? Within seconds you’ll be veering and swerving your reverse steering 4x4 around the course like someone whose never seen a car before, let alone driven one. You will, in fact, look just like your mum trying to negotiate a three point turn in Sainsbury’s car park.
To make life even more difficult for you your hen or stag party will all be watching and howling with laughter. Which will only make your attempts at reverse steering worse as you instinctively throw the 4x4 into a right turn only to find yourself heading in entirely the wrong direction.
Your brain will be frazzled, your nerves will be fried and your hen or stag party will have a blast. This is an activity that will test your skill, nerves and your hand-eye coordination – but most of all 4x4 reverse steering is just about pure, wild, stupid fun.
And if that isn’t what hen and stag parties are all about then we don’t know what is.
4x4 reverse steering with PartyWeekends.com
• Expert guidance on using the 4x4 safely.• All necessary safety equipment. • Drive your 4x4 around a specially designed course.
• Compete against the rest of your hen or stag party in time trials.
• This is a hen or stag weekend activity that doesn’t rely on fitness, strength or experience so it really is for anyone.
2. Quad biking
No self-respecting stag or hen weekend activity package would be complete without a spin on the ultimate off-roaders.
And this is quad biking in its pure form so there’s no noodling around on quads with all the pulling power of a Tonka toy – these are serious machines designed for serious fun.
After a brief introduction and practice you and your hen or stag party will take the quad bikes out into the wild on a trail which will really let you see what these quad bikes are capable of.
There are quick parts of the course to give you a real feel of the speed of these things and some trickier sections where you’ll need to muster all your skill and control.
It’s a challenging and hugely rewarding experience for any stag or hen parties - and it all takes place in the most beautiful of surroundings.
3. Clay Pigeon Shooting
Be honest. Which of us hasn’t had the urge every now and again to just start shooting things? We know we have.
Ok. Maybe it’s just us.
Clay pigeon shooting (otherwise known as 'clay target shooting' or just plain ‘target shooting’) is, we have to say, one of our favourite activities.
Choose this for your stag or hen night as one of your weekend adventure activities and you’ll have a thrilling, challenging couple of hours.
You’ll finish your time shooting clay pigeons with an enormous sense of satisfaction and, if you’ve come first, an even larger ego.
You’ll get expert tuition to help you get the most out of your target shooting time, to get you used to the gun and to ensure that any low flying aircraft are safe. If you reckon you’re of the ‘couldn’t hit a barn door…’ ilk then don’t worry.
The training will really get you shooting straight and if you turn out to be really shocking then at least you’re far enough away from the general public to only endanger trees.
4. Dodgeball Paintball
Remember dodgeball?
As much a stalwart of 70s nostalgia as Spangles, the Bay City Rollers and Swap Shop, dodgeball was the playground game where you got to throw the heaviest ball you could find at puny kids. Funny how they don’t do that anymore.
But in Bournemouth, for your hen or stag weekend, they still do! Only this time you’re not dodging balls, you’re dodging paintballs launched at you from catapults manned by the opposing team.
As each member of the hen or stag party is hit they leave the arena, with the last hen or stag standing the victor. And then you get to do it all again by switching sides, manning your catapult, and aiming for the swine who put you out of the last game…
After the war is won, you’ve cooled down and the dodgeball paintball champion has been decided you’ll have plenty of time to reflect on your multi-activity day when you head out for the evening.
Make sure that wherever you plan to go for your hen or stag night you use PartyWeekends.com’ night life passes. They’ll let you queue jump, get you into the coolest clubs, and save you money.
You’ll find them on our Activities page.
