Unlike in the movies your mate grumbles a bit, complains that it was an unfair shot and trudges off back to the paintball shop.

Now's your chance to become the hero or heroine you always knew you were.

You pull your face mask a little tighter, cock your weapon, and unlock the door.

At this point on your stag or hen paintballing weekend one of two things will happen. You'll either dive for cover, firing as you fall, and take out an enemy combatant with a well placed paintball in the chest, before taking out two more with shots that would make Rambo weep. Or, as you open the door, you'll be riddled with so many paintballs that you'll look like a walking Dulux colour chart. Since this is your hen or stag paintballing weekend, we're betting the latter - it's amazing how everyone gangs up on the stag or hen - but if you do turn out to be a ferocious and deadly killer then just remember we've always been very nice to you and we value our lives. So well done you! Is that a new hairdo? And have you lost weight? My, that 'camouflage suit and rifle' look really suits you.

As weekend adventures go paintballing is top of the list when it comes to adrenalin, mayhem and heart pounding action. It doesn't matter whether you've been to paint balling parties before. It doesn't matter what your level of fitness is (although a modicum of fitness helps unless you want to get hit so many times you'll feel like a piñata), and it doesn't matter whether you're a crack shot or a really not very good shot - you'll have an awesome time, you'll sweat, you'll be tense, you will get shot and you will shoot others. Probably.

The sneakier player (or those who just don't fancy running around much) will climb into the middle of a bush and pick off any passers-by in true sniper fashion. Then there's always someone on paintball weekends who fancies themselves as a bit of an action hero. They're the ones who enjoy crawling through streams and leaping out of trees - not because they'll win the paintball game that way, but just because it looks good. And then there's the natural victim at any stag or hen paint balling weekend who spends ten minutes sat like a Zen-master, motionless and well disguised. Then they get cramp, stand up for just a second and get shot immediately. However you plan to play, paint balling parties will provide you with an unforgettable stag or hen weekend, not to mention the odd comedy moment and talking points to return to again and again.

So suit up, mask on, load up and head out into the forest for your adventure weekend.
