Clay pigeon shooting is otherwise known as clay target shooting and, we have to say, it’s one of our favourite activities. Now don’t get the wrong idea about us – it’s not in our nature to come over all ‘man the hunter’ and start developing the urge to shoot anything that moves, but there’s a unique feeling you get when you’re out shooting targets and you actually nail one.

You shout ‘pull!’, the clay launches into the air and then it’s just you, your shotgun and your aim. And as you squeeze the trigger and the target explodes for the first time we defy you not to scream, yell and punch the air. Shooting clay pigeons does that to you. It’s a tough one to explain – but you’ll know exactly what we mean once you’ve given it a go.
Choose this for your stag or hen night as one of your weekend adventure activities and you’ll have a thrilling, challenging couple of hours and you’ll finish your time shooting clay pigeons with an enormous sense of satisfaction and, if you’ve come first, an even larger ego. And having proven yourself as the master/mistress of clay pigeon shooting and bagged the top score you’ll also bag a bottle of bubbly!

The real authorities here are the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association who say: “Clay Pigeon Shooting is currently enjoyed by 9 to 90 year olds of either sex”.
Which not only means it’s great for stag weekends, hen weekends and friends of similar age – the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association say you can invite your gran too.
The Clay Pigeon Shooting Association also say that there’s “a particular increase in the number of women … coming into it” making clay pigeon shooting anything but the preserve of blokes seeking a macho few hours. Although if you are a bloke seeking a macho few hours you can’t do much better than toting a shotgun and blowing things out of the sky.
You’ll get expert tuition to help you get the most out of your target shooting time, to get you used to the gun and to ensure that any low flying aircraft are safe. If you reckon you’re of the ‘couldn’t hit a barn door…’ ilk then don’t worry.
The training will really get you shooting straight and if you turn out to be really shocking then at least you’re far enough away from the general public to only endanger trees.

- Your clay pigeon shooting will take place at one of the best sites in the country, whichever location you choose, and shooting is an option at most of our locations.
- In addition to your expert clay target shooting tuition you’ll receive 15 free practice clays to test yourself in three different shooting events.
- First you'll be shooting five clays as they fly from right to left from the trap.
- Second, you’ll be shooting clay pigeons that are fired up into the air and then drop vertically to the ground.
- Last but not least, to test your target shooting skills to the limit, the clays are fired horizontally along the ground (known as ‘rabbit style’), which means they bounce and move at high speeds. It’s considered the most difficult form of clay target shooting and if you master it then you have our permission to feel very, very smug indeed.
- After a short refreshment break it’s back to test your newly honed " clay pigeon shooting " skills by competing in the same three target shooting events as before, only this time your shooting comes with the added pressures of scorecards and competition.
- You’ll be able to keep your scorecard as a record of how your shooting measured up and there's a bottle of bubbly for the winner, but the real buzz is seeing those clays shatter!
- After shooting clay pigeons into a powdery dust for a couple of hours you can move onto your next activity (and if you need some suggestions then take a look at our activities page) or you can head for the bar and start your stag or hen night in earnest. Which means you can finish your day of shooting clay pigeons by moving from gun shots to shots of tequila – how very appropriate.
